Golf Snake Draft: How to Run a Golf Draft Pool

Take turns picking golfers from one tournament's field in serpentine order. Every golfer goes to one team only, and the best combined score wins. Free on TourneyRun while the format is in beta.

What is a snake draft in golf?

A live draft for one tournament. Members take turns picking golfers from that week’s field, the order reverses every round, and each golfer can belong to only one team. The drafted rosters then play the tournament and the best combined score wins.

How is the draft order decided?

At random, when the draft starts. There is no manual order. If the commissioner runs a redraft, every pick is cleared and a new random order is drawn.

What happens if I miss my pick?

With your draft room open and a queue set, your top queued golfer is taken with 3 seconds left. Otherwise you get the best available golfer by world ranking: at the end of the clock if you are in the room, after 10 seconds if you are not.

Can two teams draft the same golfer?

No. Once a golfer is drafted he is off the board for everyone else, unlike an office pool, where any number of people can pick the same player.

Is there a tiebreaker in a golf snake draft?

No. Teams with the same score share the place and show as tied in the standings.

Can we trade picks or golfers?

No. The Allow Pick Trading setting in the draft room is not applied, and there is no trade feature after the draft.

What does a golf snake draft cost?

Nothing while the Snake Draft is in beta. Any buy-in is collected by the commissioner; TourneyRun does not collect or hold buy-in money.
